Payments and deposits

Take payment online. Keep the rules simple.

Take a Deposit or full payment through your Booking Page. Stripe handles the secure card step, while Setora keeps the amount, status and balance with the booking.

  • Deposits at checkout
  • Full payment collection
  • Stripe at cost
  • No Setora commission

How it works

Make the payment step clear before the visit.

  1. 01

    Choose what is due

Set a fixed Deposit, a percentage or full payment for the services and booking paths that need it.

  2. 02

    The customer pays online

The Booking Page shows the amount before confirmation. Stripe handles the secure card step and the chosen time is held while a required payment is completed.

  3. 03

    The balance stays visible

Setora keeps the payment status with the booking, so the customer and your team can see what was paid and what remains for the visit.

Take a Deposit when they book

Choose a fixed amount or percentage, then set the refund-on-cancellation rule that matches how your shop or salon works.

Collect the full amount online

When you want payment before the visit, collect the full service amount through the connected Stripe account during booking.

Keep payment costs separate

The platform is £39/month per location. SMS credits and Stripe processing are separate costs when used, and Setora takes no commission on bookings.

How Setora payments work

The amount is clear before anyone commits.

01

Deposit or full payment

A Deposit is paid during the online booking flow and the rest is due at the visit. If you choose full payment, the whole service amount is collected before the Booking is confirmed.

02

The customer sees the amount first

The Booking Page shows the payment step and amount before the customer confirms. That keeps the rule clear instead of leaving an awkward surprise at the end.

03

The time is held during checkout

When a required payment step is interrupted or a card check fails, the selected time can be retried while it is still held. An expired hold returns the customer to time selection.

04

Payment status stays with the Booking

The payment and Booking status stay connected, including what was paid and any balance left for the visit. For in-person payment, keep using the methods that suit your business and record the payment in Hub.

05

Third-party costs stay separate

Your Setora subscription is £39/month per location. SMS credits and card processing are separate when used. Stripe is paid at its standard rate, and Setora adds no markup or commission on top.

Questions

Good to know.

The questions shop owners ask us most about this.

How do online Deposits work in Setora?

Connect Stripe, choose a fixed Deposit or percentage in your payment settings, and test the Booking Page. The customer pays the Deposit during booking. You can set whether it is refunded when a Booking is cancelled within your rules, and the remaining balance is due at the visit.

Can Setora collect the full payment when a customer books?

Yes. Setora supports full payment collection during the online Booking flow through your connected Stripe account. The payment step is shown before the Booking is confirmed, so the customer knows what they are paying.

How much does Setora charge for payments and Deposits?

The Setora platform is £39/month per location, with no Setora commission on bookings and no per-staff fee. Deposits and payment tools are part of the platform. SMS credits and Stripe processing are separate costs when used, with Stripe charged at its rate.

Is card processing included in the monthly price?

No. The platform price and Stripe processing are separate. You pay Stripe's standard processing rate when a card payment is used, and Setora adds no markup or commission on top. We do not publish a provider fee figure because Stripe rates can change.

Are Deposits the same as Booking Protection?

No. A Deposit is an upfront payment at booking. Booking Protection saves the customer's card with explicit consent and only charges if your late-cancellation or no-show policy applies. A retained Deposit can credit against a Booking Protection fee, so the customer is not charged twice for the same missed Booking.

Can I keep using my existing card machine?

Yes. Setora's online card payments use Stripe, and you can keep using your existing card machine or cash for payments at the shop. Setora does not currently connect to payment terminal hardware, including Square Terminal.

What happens if a customer's online payment fails?

If the selected time is still held, the customer can retry the payment step. If the hold expires, Setora returns them to time selection. A failed card step does not turn into a confirmed paid Booking.
