Thinking of switching?
Setora is built for independent barbershops.
Online bookings, your calendar, customer records, staff tools and reporting in one place for £39/month per location.
- £39/month per location
- No Setora commission on bookings
- No per-staff fees
Trimsy and Setora share the same basic idea: direct bookings, no marketplace commission and one monthly price for the whole team. The useful differences are price, payments, cancellation recovery and how staff use the diary on their phones.
The short version
Trimsy is a strong fit for a barbershop that wants a shop-branded website and installable staff web app, hands-on setup and a joining price advertised as locked for the uninterrupted life of the subscription.
Setora is likely the better fit if you want a lower published platform price, deposits and no-show protection now, an automatic waitlist, iOS and Android management apps, salon or multi-location support or Mailchimp sync. Setora also offers REST API v1, in alpha, access by request.
At the prices checked on 8 September 2026, Trimsy is £49/month per shop plus VAT. Setora is £39/month per location, before VAT where applicable. That makes Setora £10/month, or £120/year, less before VAT for one location.
Trimsy vs Setora pricing and contracts
Trimsy advertises one plan at £49/month per shop plus VAT, reduced from a displayed £79. The price includes unlimited barbers and no booking commission. Its terms say the price you join at remains locked while your subscription continues without a break.
Setora costs £39/month per location before VAT where applicable. Unlimited staff are included and Setora takes no commission on bookings, card payments or walk-ins. SMS credits and Stripe processing are separate when used.
Both subscriptions are monthly and both allow cancellation without a long-term contract. Both trials last 14 days with no card. Trimsy says its trial starts when the shop goes live. Setora gives access to the full product for 14 days from the start of the trial.
| Trimsy | Setora | |
|---|---|---|
| Monthly platform price | £49/shop plus VAT | £39/location before VAT where applicable |
| Team | Unlimited barbers | Unlimited staff |
| Booking commission | 0% | No Setora commission |
| Contract | Monthly, no exit fee | Month-to-month, no minimum term |
| Price lock | Joining price locked while the subscription stays continuous | No lifetime price-lock promise |
| Free trial | 14 days, no card, starts at go-live | 14 days, no card |
Trimsy wins on its published lifetime price lock. Setora costs less at today's public prices. Which matters more depends on whether you value the lower current bill or certainty about Trimsy's future subscription price.
Direct bookings and branding
Neither product relies on marketplace discovery. Trimsy puts booking on the shop's own domain and includes a reskinned website in the shop's colours. Setora provides a direct Booking Page that can be linked from Google, Instagram, WhatsApp or an existing website, plus a separate Shop Website for businesses that need one.
Trimsy's approach is particularly strong on shop branding. Its staff product is an installable web app carrying the shop's name and logo. It appears on the home screen and does not need an app-store download.
Setora takes a different route. Owners and staff can download the Setora management app from the Apple App Store and Google Play. Customers do not use that app to book. They use the web-based Booking Page instead.
Neither choice is automatically better. Trimsy gives the staff experience the shop's own branding. Setora gives owners and staff a management app distributed through the Apple App Store and Google Play.
Payments and no-show protection
This is one of the clearest differences today.
Setora already supports deposits and full payment through the Booking Page. Booking Protection can securely save a customer's card with consent and let authorised staff charge or waive a fee when the shop's late cancellation or no-show policy applies. Setora adds no markup above Stripe processing.
Trimsy's UK pricing page marked card on file and no-show charging as “coming soon” when checked. Its FAQ explained the planned flow, but the public pricing list did not describe it as live.
If deposits or card-on-file protection matter now, test the live flows rather than choosing on a roadmap promise. That advice applies to Setora too. A checkbox in a feature table is not the same as using the flow with your real services and policies.
Filling cancelled appointment times
Setora has an automatic waitlist for cancelled appointment times. A customer can join when their preferred time is full. When a suitable time opens, Setora can notify the next customer and hold it for a set period before moving on.
We did not find an equivalent cancellation waitlist on Trimsy's UK homepage, pricing page, FAQ or terms pages checked on 8 September 2026. That does not prove Trimsy lacks one. Ask Trimsy for a demonstration if filling late cancellations is central to your decision.
Both products let staff add walk-ins to the diary. Setora also has kiosk mode for staff-operated walk-in entry. It is not a customer self-check-in queue.
Who each platform is built for
Trimsy's UK product and language are tightly focused on barbershops. That can be a strength if you want a system built around chairs, barbers and cuts without broader salon language.
Setora serves shops, salons and hair professionals. It also supports multiple locations, with a separate diary, staff, services, settings and Booking Page for each location.
Trimsy's UK public pages did not document multi-location management when checked. Again, “not documented” is not the same as “not available”. Ask how another shop would be added, managed and billed before assuming either way.
For one barbershop, both products fit the audience. For a salon, mixed hair business or group opening further locations, Setora's broader documented scope is likely to matter more.
Marketing and developer access
Setora documents Mailchimp sync for keeping an audience list up to date. It also offers REST API v1, in alpha, with access by request. The alpha label matters. It is not a promise of a finished, generally available developer platform.
We did not find a Mailchimp integration or public API documented on Trimsy's UK pages checked. If either matters, ask Trimsy what it supports now and what access terms apply.
A technical integration should not decide the whole purchase for most shops. But it matters quickly when customer data needs to reach a mailing list, a reporting tool or a service built around the business.
Migration and data ownership
Both providers say the shop owns its customer data and both advertise migration help.
Trimsy makes the stronger hands-on promise. Its site says it will load exported services, prices, barbers, rotas, hours and customers. Its terms say customers, bookings, history and photographs belong to the shop and can be supplied in a spreadsheet on exit.
Setora supports reviewed CSV and Excel imports for customers, services and bookings, with column mapping and migration help. Setora also provides customer CSV and available report exports for shops that later leave.
Whichever direction you move, ask for the export before cancellation and inspect it. “Your data is yours” does not mean every note, consent flag, photograph and booking relationship will appear in one clean file.
If you are already using Trimsy, the Trimsy to Setora switch guide sets out the safer order: request the export, set up Setora, test it and change your public links last.

Which should you choose?
Choose Trimsy if the shop-branded staff experience, hands-on setup, go-live-based trial and continuous-subscription price lock matter most to you.
Choose Setora if you want to pay £39/month per location, need payments and no-show protection now, want cancellations handled through an automatic waitlist or need salon, multi-location or Mailchimp support. Setora also offers REST API v1, in alpha, access by request.
The lowest-risk way to decide is to run a realistic test. Add your real services and staff. Make bookings from an older phone. Reschedule and cancel them. Add a walk-in. Export a customer list. Test the payment or protection flow you plan to use. A feature list cannot tell you whether the system will feel right on a busy Saturday.
